1、在使用spend時,主語只能是表示人的名詞或代詞 。例如:
Andy spent a lot of money on books. Andy花了很多錢買書 。
2、spend time/money on sth.
在……上花費時間（金錢）.介詞on后接名詞或代詞 。
例：I spent two hours on this maths problem.
這道數學題花了我兩個小時.
3、spend time/money (in) doing sth.
花費時間（金錢）做某事.介詞in可以省略 。
例：They spent two years (in) building this bridge.
造這座橋花了他們兩年時間.
4、spend money for sth.花錢買…….
例：His money was spent for books.
他的錢用來買書了.
另外,spend也有度過的意思 。例如:
They want to spend their summer holiday in the country.
